China's solar industry is expected to produce 25% more panels in 2017 than last year, supported by domestic sales and demand from the United States and emerging markets, the head of a Chinese industry association said. China was expected to produce solar panels with a combined capacity of 60 gigawatts (GW) this year, said Wang Bohua, secretary general of China's photovoltaic industry association. China produced panels with capacity of 48 GW in 2016. For allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter, a 46-year-old businessman, Oghenetega Orhewere, was on Thursday hauled up before an Ikeja, Lagos State Chief Magistrates’ Court. Orhewere, who resides at Omuwa Close, Tedi, Amuwo, Ojo, a Lagos suburb, is facing a charge of defilement. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. But the Police Prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, insisted that the accused committed the offence sometime in May at his residence. Ogu said the accused told his 11-year-old daughter to go the bathroom to bathe after returning from school. He said: “The accused shut the door after her, defiled her and used a white handkerchief to clean the blood stains.” He said the underage girl, who was bleeding and writhing in pains, cried to her mother and the accused was apprehended. The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majiya, disclosed this while parading the suspects before newsmen in Kano on Tuesday. “The Police arrested the Ward Head of Yargaya village, Alhaji Saje Sani, and six of his subjects for defiling a 13-year-old girl in the village,” Majiya said. He said the girl, who had been impregnated, was now carrying seven months pregnancy as certified by medical experts. He said as soon as investigations were completed, the suspects would be charged to court for the offence they have allegedly committed.
